She holds the shard of glass up to the shadow and it reflects nothing— there's nobody there but blank walls and battered doors, an empty hallway, a setting sun casting long shadows on the other side of the window. On the other side of the mirror, there is nobody there. But here, where Rika stands, shadows of students mill around the halls; Rokkun's has already turned away from her, as if she doesn't exist, and is drawn towards the front doors and the great forbidden outdoors. ]

And it's a surprise that she can probably begin to guess as he takes her up and up and up the stairwell at a slow enough pace that she won't get tired but his excitement betrays him in the way his hand tightens in hers as they approach the clock tower.

Maybe she doesn't have the best associations with this place, but for him... at the very top of the tower is the open room, walls of glass and giant clock hands that cast an unceasing flicker of shadow across the room. In this space, in the deepening night, the moon grows full and the stars are out, hundreds upon thousands of pinpricks of light that make him feel small, insignificant, but never powerless. Instead, it's the opposite. Instead, it fills him with hope, even in a place like this. ]

so there's nothing — that's what she expected, honestly, turning around to go back to rokkun's shadow, which is now moving towards the door. she's... never actually seen what happens when the shadows go outside — when anything goes outside in the void, really, so... carefully, she'll follow him, clutching onto the mirror shard in case she needs to smash it and escape. )

( part of her feels weird, coming back to this place after so much recent death has happened here- but she was sleeping in her classroom and people definitely died there, too, since they had to clean up what was definitely blood before the graduation ceremony. not to mention she was holding hands with a ghost.

any mixed feelings are quickly dashed however, when she realizes just how beautiful it is in the topmost room at night- and as she takes it in, her eyes grow wide and bright again, and she might almost trip a bit as she tries to see from every side. )

Vengeance is something so strong and personal it's the closest thing to grounding that she has, when everything surrounding her death and her life and the abruptness of the end had been thrown into turmoil. It's the only thing she has to cling to— to find her killer and then... then what? Make them pay? A whole lot of good that would do, when she won't be around to know. Besides, it's not like there was anybody else... Friends... classmates... In the end, she didn't have that sort of close relationship, but when it was somebody in this school who betrayed her. When, in the end, it was two strangers who were the ones to reach out to her.

What does she want them to do? What does she want to say? What can she say, when there is nobody to convey her final wishes besides the two around her? ]

...Put an end to all of this. Don't let anybody be alone. And... [ the light dims, the voice quiets, ] If you can... take me far away from this place. My body, my memory... whatever is left. I want to leave this school.

[He hangs back a bit while Nene takes the initiative... but it seems like helping got a positive response? Makes sense. Cleaning up the library and fetching borrowed books seems like an awful lot of work for one small (ghost?) kid to do all by herself.

Does she have more books to put back? Clamor's been through the library enough times that he can probably figure out where they're supposed to go... it'll be quicker if they all work together.]
