[Lucifer was told in the family meeting to go figure out what was up with the blood-paint situation going on between the cult and the art club and then mun forgot about that, died, came back, so here's Lucifer strolling up to his cult friends who he taught to summon a demon to say hello! Because he starts simple, you know, just a wave and a friendly smile like he's trying to catch up.

Actually he kind of... is trying to catch up with them? Just a little bit? How have the imps been treating them, did they have fun pranking the school?]

[ The two of them hear what they've always imagined a frown to sound like. A sense of disappointment, frustration, anxiety...

[ He makes to catch the mirror before it even touches the ground, hand outstretched and fingers in the way when the glass shatters, blood splattering on the ground bright red then pitch black as the school transforms around them.

Rokkun is nothing but shadow before her, silent and faceless but the mirrors-- the shards of glass reflect sky, they reflect trees, they reflect a boy bouncing a soccer ball on one knee and then the other and counting silently under his breath, a boy asleep at his desk with a sketch of a floorplan under his arms and a pencil still in his hand, a boy who stands at the edge of a riverbank with his shoes off and pants rolled to the knees but wet anyways as he picks up a rock and washes it of silt and frowns and places it back in the water to search again. ]

[ that's not how blood works but, anyways, ]

[ is Komaeda still sitting on him? I don't want to parent up and read to see. But hebtakes Komaeda's wrists, places the bloody one on the side of his face, holds him there. ]

( "that's not fair," komaeda has probably said the same once or twice while growing up, losing his parents to a meteorite before his eyes, being kidnapped only for no one to take the ransom and the culprit feeling bad enough to release him, then to be diagnosed with two life-threatening symptoms. it's not fair, yet, for every moment where his life felt like it was at its lowest, he was given something in return. his philosophy in life is twisted, it makes no sense, but he applies the same ideology on rokkun, unfairly. )

( he's been through a simulation enough to think nothing here is real, that the body he's on top of isn't real. yet, komaeda knows his memory is deteriorating. perhaps rokkun is a ghost of the past, or maybe that's what komaeda's meant to be, either way. he's going to lose him in the end, and yet, it's hard for komaeda to stomach as he can't even look at him eye to eye, but he smiles as he speaks to reassure him. )

[ They don't have much time...? Shuichi follows Nene's gaze, but he can't see anything himself -- he'll just have to trust her. ]

I-If you're out of it... then where are you right now? What's going to happen to you?

[ There was actually one more thing that he wanted to say to her, but... that has to take a backseat for now. ]

( the last thing she sees before the school turns is him, with his hand outstretched, trying to catch the mirror. why? getting any closer to it was obviously going to hurt him — she doesn't understand why he seems so adamant to prevent her from smashing them, unless... he knows what happens afterwards.

well, that's really neither here nor there, and she can return to that later — for now, she's faced with an afterimage of him, a still, quiet shadow, looming over her and the scattered mirror shards. she looks down at them, squinting; no matter which angle she tries, they seem to be reflecting something else, entirely, and after a moment of confusion, she kneels down to take a closer look, cradling one in her hands carefully.

a boy, his dark hair tussled by the wind. the moment she sees him with a soccer ball, she has a good inkling of who it might be — his face rounder, stature shorter, obviously younger than the current rokkun. she watches, silently, as his memories flash in the shards; one by one, exploring more of his past, showing her more of him; she's not sure why, but there's a longing feeling wedged in her chest, like she wants to reach for something that's far too distant to ever be caught.

those aren't her memories. this isn't her life. so why does she feel sad for him?

glancing over at the shadowy figure, she pushes herself back up to her feet, grabbing one of the shards and wandering off to search for another. did it show her his memories because his blood had gotten on it, or will any shadow's past be revealed in the mirror? the moment she spots someone, she approaches them carefully, bringing the shard up to their chest, and peering into it curiously. )

[ Library ghost-chan almost falls off the ladder in surprise when Nene approaches, like she means to hide on the other side of the ladder but that requires more coordination than her tiny body is capable of. But when the book is taken from her hands and placed back in its rightful place on the shelf, she !! and looks at Nene with inquisitive eyes. She reaches over just brief enough to tug at Nene's sleeve, and then begins her slow, careful descent down the ladder, touching down on the floor and makes to drag the ladder to a different spot on the bookshelf. ]

[ Is he lucky? He never feels that way, fighting tooth and nail for his opportunities and carving his own path in the way he knows how, stubborn, messy, just a little desperate in the way he reaches up and cups Komaeda's face with one hand and brushes the pad of his thumb over that smile— look at him.

He breathes out a sigh, gaze softening, corners of his mouth lifting.

Unbelievably lucky. ]

...I must be, to have made it this far. And you must be, to have let me.

[ Natsume's right... stuff happened, like Komaeda shouting it from the ceiling for everyone in the auditorium to hear, Ouma telling others, etc. But... Maya has a point too. None of the regular students had seemed to mention it on their own; whatever's going on with them seems to overlap for the most part with other things -- things that Shuichi isn't sure he remembers as well as them in the first place.

It's something to think about. ]
