well, it's kinda obvious komaeda's pretty detached from it. she sits next to him on the desk, leash still in hand, and hums. )
Rocchi's got it bad for you, Koma-kyun ~ You know that, right? ( look at rokkun simping... incredible? ) Rocchi, come look at the rock Koma-kyun found for you!!
no subject
( his mind works in mysterious ways, and while he's detached, there's this blank stare as he makes eye contact with rokkun, but he smiles softly regardless. after, he looks over to rika as his leash drags against the table not too sure what to make of her comment. you know, he's never good with people's emotions, and has trouble understanding anything properly. )
Does he?
( as he thinks about it, he snaps his fingers as he remembers the wish that chiaki had wrote for him yesterday. ) It's probably a side effect from Kudo-san's wish. ( then again, they're both hopeful individuals, so it goes hand in hand. )
It's pretty lucky that there are two sides, but we did come as two people. ( he's setting it down gently on the table so that he can inspect it with his architect eyes. ) Hopefully you can find some use out of it.
no subject
...like a brain... I can definitely use this. Thank you.
no subject
watching the two of them, not unlike an observer through a transparent wall, she hums, head tipping to the side. )
Yes, two of us for one Rocchi, how lucky. ~ ( her free hand reaches into her pocket, taking out the box cutter.
... this is the best she has on her in terms of utensils to cut the cake... ) Not what this is for, but I guess... unless one of you has a knife on hand?
no subject
I wonder... if you can take care of it until you graduate.
( ... )
...Think you can do that?
( he says it like a challenge, his voice low, i guess sex operator energy as he plays the same card as the other before. it's a shared sentiment to have him graduate between them both despite the fact rika finds komaeda bad for him, and he thinks nothing of it. he turns his head to stare at the box cutter, and he's not against the idea of using it. his voice goes back to normal, carefree as always: )
I stabbed myself with the one I have... ( he points at her weapon, a little interested in how that one would cut. not like he's thinking about stabbing himself with it... okay, yeah he is, but! ) Yours will work... Rokkun should do the honors.
no subject
...I don't know. I'm prepared to give up everything in order to graduate.
[ Even his rock collection... But being prepared doesn't mean he won't fight tooth and nail to keep what's his, even if it's with reluctance that he holds one half of the rock out to Rika for safekeeping, and the other half to Komaeda, so he can free his hands for the switchblade.
...
Actually, he's going to wait until Rika makes it a sword, if she just hands over a regular switchblade, he's going to stare at her until she swords it. ]
no subject
( ... it's not like... she didn't stab herself with this one? and then also another person? but, well, at least she washed it off the blood afterwards, so maybe it's not that big of a deal. she just doesn't say anything, a little thoughtful as she takes a half of the rock from rokuro and looks at it, watching how it glistens when the right light hits it.
give up everything, he says. she doesn't want him to have to give anything up, but that sounds like an unreachable kind of a dream.
and, yes, she hands him over the switchblade, because that's plenty enough to cut a cake? but then he stares at her, and she stares at him, and, oh, she shouldn't have shown him that, jeez. )
... fine, fine! ( she gets it, though, so she takes it back; extends her arm to let blue light consume the box cutter and turn it into a sword. a little reluctantly, because this is currently her only means of defending herself, she hands it over to rokuro, hilt-first. ) Just don't swing it around, 'kay? Cut the cake!
( so komaeda doesn't run into the blade or something. gonna hold onto that leash a little tighter... )
no subject
anyway.
give up everything, he says.
komaeda can't fault him for it because he's done it himself, gave up whatever had had for the sake of hope to wipe out despair. if there was anything he wanted at that moment, it was to obtain a world where hope covered everything in its light, and whoever lived would enjoy life properly. he doesn't know whether graduation could be called hope, but rokkun has said it over, and over again — he wants to graduate. it's still the same now, as long as he does it all for hope in mind, for a reason that will help the wilting leaves of others around him, then komaeda won't stop him. it's the moment his efforts begin to go off path, he may have something to say, but for now... plucking dead weeds isn't bad at all.
he takes the rock, already acquainted with the beauty of it as he watches the staring contest between them both, and the moment rika's blade turns into something different — his eyes widen in amusement. )
Kawaii-san! Amazing... to think you had a hope that could make such a fantastic weapon!
( he has to make sure he doesn't drop his half of the rock out his hand once he sees, but listen, that's more important than the cake to him. komaeda doesn't even like sweets, but his eyes stay latches to the weapon, and when he notices the way her hand tightens around the leash, he laughs. )
I wondered why there was something glowing about you lately. ( he claps his hands before he looks towards rokkun with the sword in hand, watching him with interest. ) Do it. Do it. Do it.
no subject
in his imagination, anyways. You can't hold a sword in your hand and not imagine swinging it around with wild abandon, okay? It's a sword, and he has this boyish smile on his face for a second, that disappears the moment he's brought back to reality like oh, he's really supposed to cut this dinky cake with a hugeass sword.
But okokok... He takes a step back and faces the cake on the desk, carefully lowering the blade so that it slices the cake directly in half: half for himself, half for Rika, and then he hands the sword over to Komaeda so he can lick the icing off the blade. ]
no subject
anyway, she kinda forgot komaeda's never seen it before. honestly, she doesn't mind, it's just a sword — but while she wants to deny that it has anything to do with hope, well... maybe it does. it's made from her hope to bring her friend back — from the amalgamation of negative feelings she'd managed to weaponize. it's important to her, but watching it in rokkun's hand doesn't bother her nearly as much as it probably should. he looks so happy about it, how could she? )
I got it back just recently, so no wonder... ( glowing isn't the term she'd use, but... she does feel safer with this on her, so it probably helps.
that said, she watches rokkun cut the cake in half — expects him to do more, because there's no way she can eat more than a piece, but he just... hands the sword over... TO KOMAEDA??? )
Hey, hey — !! ( SHE HATES Y'ALL INSANE ASSES ) Give it! ( watching rokkun with the sword? fine. watching komaeda with the sword? terrifying, mostly because she never knows when his luck freaks out and makes something weird happen. so she reaches, considering he's right here, to grab it by the hilt. he can lick the icing off while she holds it, or something. )
no subject
the moment she touches her weapon is exactly where there's this soft, cracking noise becomes audible. now whether it's the table, or one of their chairs... something doesn't sound too good. )
I've never seen anything like it...
( he can't say that pekoyama's weapon even holds a candle to this, but it's all about technique than what weapon is used right? ) You have to use it soon, maybe on... Dito-kun.
( he did kill wilbur, after all. now she shouldn't do it for revenge, but to test his hope, and see if he's worthy of the kill. and yeah, he forgot they weren't supposed to talk about killing. he's about to set his hand down on the table until he remembers the icing which is...
yeah, no. so he holds his fingers up to rokkun. )
It's your birthday, and this day is about you so... Asking you to clean them off isn't too much, is it? ( they go way back right?? help him. LEAN OVER THE TABLE FOR MAX EFFICIENCY. wink wink )
no subject
It's easy to imagine that too, and it's something to focus on instead of giving into the urge to suck Komaeda('s finger) off. ]
You're making the birthday boy clean up? Isn't that backwards?
how i shouldve left the leave tag
she grabs the sword as soon as komaeda hands it over, because she doesn't Like the way he looks at it. yeah, she can tell he's probably thinking about stabbing himself with it, and though she'd LOVE to indulge him right about now, she's Not Yet There.
she still jumps off the table though, because it's starting to creak weirdly, and looks at the icing on her sword... )
How about the two of you clean my sword? One on either side.
( ???? )
I WISH YOU LEFT IT HONESTLY
rika hops off, taking charge, and he looks in her direction to see what she needs help with. )
I can't take that into my mouth... It's a bit too big for me.
( how grateful of her to give them each a side, just like the rock... those two seem to have so much in common. )
Besides... I'm not really into sweets, I prefer salty things... ( since rokkun has murder on the brain with wanting his mouth filled with something... ) What about you Rokkun, you're capable of taking it right?
( it is his cake... he should do the honors. )
If you need to get down on your knees... it's perfectly fine.
( rika's canon height dropped today and we're celebrating!!! 🥳🤯👏🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🧨🎇🎆 )
no subject
SLOBBERING
( she explains, glancing over to rokkun. huh?
is it not okay if she holds it? she'll keep it perfectly still, promise!!
but, fine. he's the birthday boy. have the sword and end their lives quickly )
GUESS WE GUNNA BE PAINT
how much spice can he handle until it's too much? now that he thinks about it, he hasn't really ate today either... maybe he should go to the vending machine.
he'll just watch rokkun gain the sword, and then look around for his pda... rokkun, where do you keep that badboy? )
no subject
Anyways, he takes the sword in his hands and does not give Komaeda his PDA because that's irrelevant? ] You guys are ridiculous. [ And by you guys he means Komaeda, who he thought he'd offer sword cream so he can feel included despite not liking sweets very much. Picking up a fork, he scrapes off both sides of the blade onto a plate to set in front of Komaeda before taking the sword over to the sink to wash off.
Splashes water on his face so he can stoppppppp
Bent over the sink, he slides the blade over the tip of one of his fingers, sees that he still bleeds red, and holds the cut under running water while reaching for the stack of old towels to dry off the blade. ]
Thanks for the cake, Rika. Ginger was a lucky guess, wasn't it, Nagito...? You still don't remember.
no subject
he doesn't, though, instead scraping the frosting onto a plate and wandering over to the sink. well, if he wants to do the honors and wash the sword, he can go ahead — in the meantime, she'll take some of the frosting from the plate onto her own finger to taste test it.
... spicy. the cinnamon and ginger are very prominent.
if she could see what he's doing, she'd scold him — but since she can't, she just watches him dry the blade off, staring at his back. )
No pwoblem, Senpai. ( she answers, with her finger still in her mouth, pulling it out to laugh. ) I almost killed him when he tripped over and dumped all the ginger into the batter, y'know? But... I guess it was lucky.
( "remember," he says. she looks at komaeda and thinks that there's not a single coherent thought behind these eyes, first of all, but as far as fake memories go... well, it's kind of sad to think about. )
Did you do anything fun yesterday, Rocchi?
no subject
he stares down at the plate before him with icing, loosing at how much he managed to clean with his fork, and it doesn't take long to see rika's fingers swipe up a bit of it. he watches, curious, as she takes a liking to it, and he instead uses the fork left behind to have a taste. it's fine, he thinks, not too sweet, but leaves a distinct taste on his tongue which isn't too strong, but thanks to his illness, his palate isn't the best anyway. maybe that's why he wants komaeda to taste it so bad? )
She put hardly any effort into it... but it came out amazing, you should have a taste.
( he's compliant for now, acting normal for the moment as he sets his fork down on the plate. he pushes it towards rika, dish scraping against the table as he does so.
he's used to this between him and rokkun, and it seems he has no shame when talking about it in front of others about komaeda's memory. his eyes meet with hers for a moment, already recalling where she doesn't have much faith to him and rokkun's shared past, and it's understandable... who would? even komaeda relates this to his time in the simulation. )
Don't let someone like me stop you from enjoying this, especially after Kawaii-san made this happen.
( he nods, following her lead as sickly, pale green eyes fall upon rokkun in wait, curious as well. he's waiting to learn the same information that revolves around what he did yesterday. )
no subject
The first bite is soft and sweet, with a kick from the ginger and cinnamon a moment after and that fills his mouth with warmth. It makes him feel a little bit like crying, but he can't tell if that's from the spice, or the taste of hope, or simply because he's exhausted and overwhelmed and all of this...
a birthday cake. a birthday, shared with friends, people who thought an existence such as his was worth celebrating... ]
It did come out amazing. [ His gaze flickers up at Rika, before returning to the cake in front of him. ]
I didn't have one yesterday. I spent most of it outside, actually, hiking and stuff. Saw some wild rabbits... Enjoyed not being at school, mostly.

snorting with amusement, when komaeda remembers to mention that she "didn't put much effort into it," she watches rokkun try the cake, an embarrassing warmth spreading across her chest. she's never been into caring for people, much less cooking for them — if she made her mom a sandwich for when she woke up from her drunken stupor, she'd never stick around to watch her actually eat it, but... this... is nice, she thinks. she didn't learn to cook because she wanted to, but for survival alone, but, ah. maybe it was worth it, after all. )
Yay! Rika-chan's hidden talent has been revealed! ( so to hide her embarrassment, she cuts herself a thin slice of the cake with the box cutter, placing it on the plate with the frosting. ) You can have the rest, Rocchi. I gotta watch my waist, you know? Senacchi would totally ki ~ ll me if he heard I had more than a slice. Kill me!
( caring about your weight when you're trying to stay alive in murderschool is hard but somebody's gotta do it... )
Hmm... sounds nice. Up Rocchi's alley. Ugh... I'd even go hiking if it meant getting out of this place, even though hiking sounds suuuper tiring. Well, Koma-kyun would probably die first mile, though. ( she takes a bite of the cake. ... it does taste nice, even though it's also very spicy; her eyes water a little, actually, because that sure was a whole bottle of ginger. )
no subject
( it's not proper praise, but it's enough to show that he's thinking of what she's done, and how well it was. for someone beneath him, she's pretty different, and that makes komaeda look at her a little differently than the normal folk that walk around in this school. people whose hope hardly shine, the way they waffle around waiting for something to roll into their hands, he can't deal with it. luckily, there are some ordinary, generic people who stand out among the rest, and this is where he turns to rokkun to look at him.
he sits still but is bothered by how mundane everything seems to be... normally his luck would proc for something terrible to happen, and yet things seem fine. they're both still alive, enjoying themselves as they exchange stories between one another, and depending on who speaks is where komaeda's eyes follow. the cake rika won't eat is passed to rokkun who seems capable of scarfing it all down, and then there's rika who's indulging in the conversation about killing komaeda off because of his health. it's pretty normal... something komaeda doesn't really understand or even get the chance to take part in, so he's silent at first, not sure of what to say.
better yet, it's when he notices rika's tears that he manages something. )
Ah! Look, Rokkun! She's so excited about the idea of hiking with you... she's come to tears.
( he laughs softly, unconcerned for what the real reason may be. )
You should take her along... since there has to be a place you like to do that at.
no subject
There is a spot I like, but...
[ If they're going to be grumbling the entire time, what's the point of taking them? He'd have to princess carry Rika and piggyback Koma—- no, he's going to have to do it the other way around, because he doesn't trust Komaeda to have the grip strength to hang on. Point is, he's going to end up with three times as much baggage doing this. ]
Maybe I'll steal you out of this place someday. It'll be lonely, graduating alone.
no subject
( she smacks komaeda upside the head, since he's right there, and huffs. first of all, she's not untalented? she's got plenty of talents, like kicking komaeda half to death, and second of all, she doesn't need him to try and awkwardly wingman her, either, because it's just embarrassing. and, most importantly... this is rocchi's birthday, so if they're talking leisure activities, it should involve all of them, right?
they're both here for rokkun, is what really matters.
anyway, she can't really imagine going hiking with the two of them, either. she'd whine about her delicate feet hurting like two steps in, and komaeda would expire the moment a ray of sunlight hit him, so i mean... yeah. )
... we're both first years, but... there is a way for us to graduate, too, right? Then we can join you on the outside.
( she actually spoke with komaeda about this, hasn't she? the possibility of graduating, for the transfer students... )
