[After a wild night of partying Clamor conks the fuck out in the middle of bedtime stories, leaving him trapped under a heavy teenager. Alas, he is unable to return his library book, though he does wake up just before the stroke of midnight...

Nene (and Hanako?) is also here and awake, in a tent vaguely next to Clamor and Noah's. What do they see?]

[ Better if Hanako isn't there, because he would immediately kill the library ghost(?)

Nothing happens until the stroke of midnight, in the absence of sound nobody can hear the door open or the fabric of Clamor's tent rustle. There isn't any movement to catch, either, one moment Clamor sleepily crushed under Noah's body and the next moment there's a third body there with him, small cold hands holding his finger and cupped to catch the blood that falls as his fingernail is ripped straight off. ]

[He is braced for the nail-ripping, but UH. child. for funsies let's say this is also the first time he's realizing his sight is working again.

In the absence of sound, he's going to stare directly at her for a couple seconds and then... gently try to take his nail back, I guess? Whose child is this? When did you crawl into their tent? What are you doing with that??]

[adsum]

[ No it's her fingernail now, she deftly places it inside her mouth like she's daring Clamor to do something about it. ]

[CHILD NO THAT IS UNSANITARY???

he is sitting up to grab her (gently! but firmly!!) by the face like NO, SPIT THAT OUT, PLEASE... he is not quite brave enough to stick his hand in her mouth that is also unsanitary]

[ Maybe if you cleaned your fingernails, Clamor!!

She pulls back in surprise when Clamor goes for her face and for a moment he holds her face- cold, soft- and then his hands go straight through her like the shades in the void school. ]

[congratulations on waking up The Son by jostling him so much that he sort of rolls over, thuds against the floor, and lets out the most bleary,]

[Oh yeah wait Clamor can't hear him. Fuck. He just starts gesturing wildly like IS EVERYTHING GOOD?]

first he is going to remove his hands from her face after a few seconds, because that seems rude to leave them in there

and then he is going to look down at Noah, who seems to have woken up, and point at the ghost like are you seeing this shit?? hello???]

[ This ghost that's, like, leaving the tent? She got what she came for, she's outtie. ]

[Noah looks at Clamor like no, I'm not seeing this shit, what is wrong with you? Goodbye ghost he cannot see, have fun with Clamor's fingernails AGAIN.]

[cue comical doubletake as the ghost is just ditching their dumb asses

He is going to get up and try to reach for her again, though, because wow yeah he can't just leave it at that and call the mystery solved—can he grab her arm? or shoulder?

also: did she take his library book, i'm guessing she probably did but if not he will bring that too because he can put two and two together]

( and nene is just stepping out to get a drink when... there's a small child?? who isn't stephanie?? hello? where are you going she's following kinda because nene's impulse control is named hanako-kun. )

[ Clamor can grab at her arm or shoulder, but like a proper little ghost she doesn't allow herself to be touched. Also yeah she has his book, I forgot this is what she's supposed to be focused on, not fingernails.

Hello... This small child looks nervously over her shoulder at being followed while she tap tap taps her way down the hall and downstairs to the library. Go away... go to sleep... shoo ]

[Sorry ghost child, he's going to follow you all the way to the library if he has to... and also explain none of this to Noah, since there's no sound and if he stopped to get a pen or paper to write with he'd probably lose sight of the girl.

He is going to glance over at Nene, though, and point again, since she also seems to be seeing this shit? Thank El it's not just him at least. He will try his best to keep her safe in your absence, Hanako-kun...]

[ Tap tap tap into the library, and when she gets there, she looks around for where the book is to replaced. A high shelf... high shelfs are tough... She looks around for one of the ladders leaning against the wall and begins the arduous task of dragging it over in front of the gap in the books. Just trying to ignore these other guys as best she can but she can't help the nervous glances she throws their way. Don't look!! she's shy ]

[Noah still sitting here in the classroom like what in the GENUINE fuck is going on.]

( ... nene... is gonna come over to try and help put the book back. life is hard when you're tiny, and if she approaches with a gentle smile maybe it could go well? but... what the heck. )

[ Library ghost-chan almost falls off the ladder in surprise when Nene approaches, like she means to hide on the other side of the ladder but that requires more coordination than her tiny body is capable of. But when the book is taken from her hands and placed back in its rightful place on the shelf, she !! and looks at Nene with inquisitive eyes. She reaches over just brief enough to tug at Nene's sleeve, and then begins her slow, careful descent down the ladder, touching down on the floor and makes to drag the ladder to a different spot on the bookshelf. ]

[He hangs back a bit while Nene takes the initiative... but it seems like helping got a positive response? Makes sense. Cleaning up the library and fetching borrowed books seems like an awful lot of work for one small (ghost?) kid to do all by herself.

Does she have more books to put back? Clamor's been through the library enough times that he can probably figure out where they're supposed to go... it'll be quicker if they all work together.]

[ ! !! Help pushing and pulling the ladder is definitely appreciated, because she wasn't blessed with floaty ghost powers, just fingernail digesting ones. There's a book on a high shelf that's partially sticking out of the row that she reaches for: it's an animal encyclopedia. World Book's Animals of the World or something like that, very high up, very hefty, will definitely give somebody a concussion if it falls on their head. ]

[Ladder duty... Clamor can handle that, no problem. He follows her gaze up to the heavy book in question, then nods, waiting for her to fully descend before moving the ladder into position for her (safety first!).]

( well, if clamor is on ladder duty, then nene will happily help the little girl do what needs doing. at the ghost girl's call, she'll place books as needed! but, huh. this sure is Weird! )

[ Time goes by so much quicker when there are more people helping, and little by litter the girl starts to smile. The encyclopedia she has Nene set on the librarian's desk, but the rest of the library gets cleaned up in record time, books in their proper place and the return cart emptied.

When they're all finished, she goes to the desk and slides the book off its surface, thick and heavy enough that she has to wrap both arms around it and lug it underneath the desk, curling up in one corner with the book opened in front of her. The words on the pages are too long and complicated for her but that's okay; she flips through the book backwards, just wanting to see the pictures. ]

[What a cute, hard working little girl... has she been doing this by herself all this time? Clamor makes a mental note to be tidier when he visits the library from now on.

... he also kinda lost track of time and forgot why he followed her here in the first place, but UH. Right. Ghost child, ate his fingernail... well, he can't really be mad about that when she was just doing her job. Now what?

It looks like they're done cleaning up, so... he waves and smiles apologetically at Nene, since he did kind of drag her into this with no context. He'll explain... later... but since the ghost girl seems to have settled down, he finds a pen and some paper and follows after her. He doesn't fit under the desk (not comfortably), but he can still sit down next to her from slightly outside.

hopefully she can read at all because otherwise wow this is going to make it hard to communicate, anyway, writing a note and holding it out for her]

[ The girl looks up from her book and blinks slowly at Clamor, as if surprised he's still hanging around after the work is finished. Tentatively, she reaches out and takes the piece of paper, staring down at the words.

She puts the piece of paper in her mouth and nibbles on a corner. ]
