That's a given, not something that needed to be said.
[ She doesn't want him to join. Never mind student council, she doesn't want to have to sit in the same room with him for an hour forty five twice a week. ]
no subject
( remember last time he didn't like something a school did so he tried to blow them up? yeah, he's thinking like that yet again. he doesn't look like he'd do anything, especially with the cat ears and tail on, but he he's kind of insane... or so, that's what everyone thinks. :/ )
Because I want to help you with that, seeing them prosper in a school like this would be the greatest achievement! ...I don't want to see any of them fail.
( so that means they really need their beach episode. )
no subject
[ Fact of life. She cares but... she can't care about everyone— her role as the student council president isn't to care, it's to lead and if people don't follow then that's their own business. ]
That said, if everybody gives up, that would be the worst case scenario. I absolutely will not let that happen. When it comes to hope, leave it alone, let it flourish naturally and it will. You don't have to provide something like that.
no subject
( that's true, even the ones that fail are doing their job, they're enabling the other students to become stronger in their own way. the thought brings a smile to his face, chuckling softly as he looks at the expression the female wears. )
The students who become the fertilizer for the soil will help hope's roots dig deeper into the earth, and there's nothing wrong with that. ( no matter who they lose, they'll always be remembered by the others who manage to move forward, and that's why he's happy enough to say this. for someone who loves hope the way he does, who would he be to forget their sacrifice. there's no worry in his voice as he says this, not even a speck of concern about what would happen if certain people failed. )
Even if you have to pluck off a few dead leaves... they served their purpose.
no subject
Interesting.
[ She pushes away from the table and motions for Komaeda to get up too. ]
I will give you an audience, a platform, and five minutes at the assembly at the end of the month. The entire student body will be there. I want you to tell them what you told me.
no subject
Telling them something they should already know won't mean much.
( besides, what does she get out of him going up there and acknowledging half of them? their hope is one thing, but komaeda's time is another. if she gets anything out of this, it's the unanimous decision of komaeda being hated by his peers, but he's pretty used to that already so it's not like he'll be upset. )
Their hope needs more than five minutes, there are other ways to encourage them... how are they taking her death?
( you know... you're so lucky he doesn't have poison, that's the best way to deal with a whole room filled with people. )
no subject
You'd be surprised how much people know but don't realize, or perhaps subconsciously refuse to acknowledge.
[ Maya, constantly: open your damn eyeeeeeeess
Anyways, he's rejected her request and so she has no further reason to entertain him, heading for the door so she can go home and get out of here, make one of the teachers lock up before the school empties out. ]
If you want to bring up that death, ask them yourself.
no subject
Arisu-san, you make me out to be a lot of trouble, and you'd really let me go on stage to speak with our peers?
( maybe he'll take it, maybe... besides, he looks like he's willing to go along with it. )
...What about you? I want to hear it from you, yourself.
( besides, only maya can tell him whether she's happy with what happened. )
no subject
My thoughts on Okane's death? I'll tell you after you exit this room.
[ People overhearing in the halls is ...bad... but even more frustrating would be having to fight Komaeda to get out of the room so she can put this place behind her. It's almost impossible to bodily move a person when they don't want to move; she knows that by experience aka she has a brother who doesn't want to get out of bed most mornings ]
no subject
Is it bad to have a conversation here? I know how to keep an inside voice.
( he proves that too, speaking low with a small smile to reassure her. ) It'll be like a council meeting... just between us.
no subject
By the nature of this room, yes it's bad. Now get out.
no subject
I'll follow your lead.
( where are they going? )
You must have strong feelings if you can't say it in there... ( he inhales right after, glancing down the hall. ) Is it that negative you think her ghost will come back?
no subject
...it's too soon for her to come back. And maybe that's just as well, because surely she would haunt the person who killed her.
no subject
Too soon... ah, that's a way to phrase her return. ( as if they're able to come back within a set period, but that's not right, is it? ) That makes me wonder... she must have been the type to have a lot of bad things happen in her life if she'd become a vengeful spirit.
( sounds like a horror story thing, which komaeda finds just a little interesting, but with how odd this school is, he's surprised that it hasn't happened already. seeing ghosts should be a given when you're living in a simulation, he thinks. )
no subject
Hm? Yeah, she had a pretty shitty life. That's the nature of being in student council, though.
[ Want to see ghosts? I'm still waiting for your fingernails. ]
no subject
What about you, if you happen to follow in her footsteps... She could have also wanted to die? ( no one is like you komaeda, but it's a good thing that no one is. ) Then again, there's no hope in sacrificing without a cause...
( i wanted to take like 14 books, but clamor was against it. )
no subject
Maybe.
[ Who is that "also" referring to? Either way, Maya doesn't know enough to offer a more solid answer than maybe. ]
I have no intention of dying, though. It's not my year, so it'd be pointless.
no subject
That's too vague, Arisu-san! Tell me, do you mean the class year...? Is that was graduation is, dying on the spot because it's our time?
( he asks, raising a hand so his index finger taps against his chin in thought. )
I'm guessing your life isn't deemed bad enough to die just yet, but that doesn't answer if you're happy if she's dead or not...
no subject
[ Has she ever been happy in her life? look at her. ]
I'm not upset, either. She got what was coming for her, even if it's a lot sooner that she might have wanted.
no subject
Why is that, Arisu-san?
( he stands by her, glancing down because his 5'11" ass does not deserve to be doing this, but he's doing it. )
Her hope... sounds pathetic when you say it that way... ( he nods to himself, though the expression he wears is a bit sullen. ) ...But her death gave you room to grow.
no subject
[ She looks up at him in her full... 5'3" ig height, and doesn't back down. ]
It was still premature. The ones who were most affected... I guess you could say are the third years who knew her, the second years who looked up to her. But it was too early. Now, all they will remember is me.
no subject
That's not bad at all, if you're all they remember, if your hope is stronger than hers, I can't imagine allowing someone weak to rule over others.
( now togami byakuya is a different breed, now he could govern everything if he willed it, and even that sort of leadership was outstanding. as he watches maya, even komaeda's curious about whether she has that ability just as well, she may not have the talent, but someone thrown into this — she's doing pretty well. )
Their soil was running dry, before her death, and now that her corpse is feeding their very floor. She had her use, even though premature... Now, you have to nurture each and every one of these students with your hope, but... what will you do differently from her?
no subject
I do not need to explain myself to you, Komaeda.
[ Her methods, her plans, the scope of everything that she controls, it is frankly none of his business and she does not say any more than necessary. ]
Nor do I have to explain myself to anybody. Our conversation is over.
no subject
( it's stated simple as that, and he doesn't really care how this look — it's about whose hope is stronger than whose, and komaeda falls towards that. he's not saying maya's is stronger than the collective one of the transfers, but it was stronger than the previous council president. so he'd be interested in the things she do, how she'd do them. )
Between her power and your power, if you won't tell me yours. ( he gives it a moment, nodding to himself. ) What made her weak, what did she do wrong...?
no subject
[ She refuses the offer, as she's done many many times in the past, from Komaeda or otherwise. Her strength is... knowledge, willingness, opportunity.
Whereas Komaeda... ]
How do you live with yourself...?
