[ He's not, usually, the type to talk about his feelings. But it's different, somehow, when the subject of his feelings is standing in front of him and the focus is thus on Komaeda and not himself, even though it's turned back around on him and he's asked that question.

All Komaeda cares about is hope. He might as well be asking Rokkun to drive a nail into his own coffin. He was scared, and he thought he might die, but those two damning details only happened after. In the moment, things were too fast, his body moved on instinct and protected himself as best he could—- but that's not how it happened. He held onto Komaeda's hand, thinking he could have both, and in the end, he got neither.

Hyde not cooperating isn't your failing, Noah. You are not responsible for his actions, nor he for yours.

[ Jekyll, though... that's where the problem lies. Somebody innocent, whose life was lost as collateral damage, whose death can not be justified as self defense. ]

Hyde had a hostage, making what happened inherently unfair. But you still had no choice, if you wanted to live.

[ Same spiel as the other counselor threads, and today's snack is baked pita chips, which the counselor gestures at when Natsume enters. ]

[ Hiro's at his desk, head down on his arms and blinking blearily up at Natsume before glancing over at the clock on the wall to see how much time he has for lunch. It'd better be the start of break because Subaru is apparently looking for him later. He doesn't always eat lunch and so doesn't have his own bento with him today, but eating with Natsume...?

Regardless of whether he wants to, refusing would be rude, so Hiro nods his okay without getting up from his desk. They can eat here... maybe... unless Natsume is making him walk downstairs for a picnic. ]

I usually don't, is the thing.

[As Noah often says, his life ends when he gets revenge for his brother, but that's something that'll happen back home, away from whatever the hell this place is.]

It was like a switch flipped on in the last moments of our fight and I decided that I still had to carry on. If not for myself, then for others. I'm alive for one purpose. It doesn't stop me from feeling guilty. If... if I hadn't killed him, he might have come after someone else, and as much as I can't stand that, it still wasn't my judgement to pass. Especially if one of the souls lost hadn't done anything.

[ She's easy to catch in her homeroom during lunch, and most other times too, having taken to sitting at her desk and staring out the window lost in thought. She tears her eyes away when he calls her name, and looks at him warily. ]

...It's not the toy I was concerned about. It was broken to begin with— or, at least when Sena showed it to me, though he didn't say how it got broken.

[ The groupies look a little disappointed that Subaru isn't here to chat with them, and instead point out to him the gloomy looking boy who is currently trying to sneak out the other classroom door the moment he heard fangirl screams and decided it would be too noisy to nap here with that going on. ]

[ Baked pita chips that's lightly salted and with red pepper flakes and would be great with hummus but he doesn't have hummus. ]

Wherever you want to begin, Natsume. This is time is for you, after all. Your worries, your frustrations, things you keep bottled up inside... Life advice, homework help, I can provide that too, though I will admit the social sciences elude me.

[ She's there, and his fan points her out immediately, and when he looks over to the girl in question he'll see that she's already glaring at him before he even opens his mouth, because she heard that call out.

God, this is irritatingly familiar. ]

He sets his head back down on his knees and does his best to look empathetic. ]

You said so yourself: the alternative would have been your life, and the lives of others.

[ The will to live, especially, should never be something to feel guilty about. ]

I know that knowledge doesn't ease your guilt, but you did your best in the situation presented to you, where all options involve loss. It was not a situation you could "win," or achieve a "perfect score." That is not how life works.

[ It sure looks like she's been through hell and back, despite saying that she hasn't been through half what he has. He remembers walking in on her asleep, and remember his bento, reaching for the box and handing over to her what hadn't spilled out onto the floor.

If she came here right as lunch ended and was asleep, she wouldn't have had time to eat yet. Eat, sleep, those are the things that will make things better, especially when you don't know how to deal with ghosts. ]

Why not? Natsume said you're his friend, so any friend of his is a friend of mine! I mean, I'd like to be friends with Natsume's friends, 'cause then I know they're good people.

[ Oh my god. She's having her time wasted for this kind of question... though she does answer anyways. ]

I'm going to assume you mean growing them. [ Not like... making them sprout out of nowhere. She's not a seed, or a self-proclaimed magician like Natsume. But also, ugh, Natsume. ]

I don't have any particular interest in gardening, but I can research well enough to keep them alive. You'll have better luck asking somebody in the gardening club for that sort of advice.

[ Hiro makes a face that might mean "Natsume needs less friends" or maybe just that he doesn't agree with that sentiment. Especially that last part, where he averts his gaze and points to himself and shakes his head.

He once shanked a man? Did Natsume not mention that part? ]

[Ugh, he haaates it when logic gets thrown back at him... Do not perceive him, just let him be a tunnel-vision kid who thinks the world works in Only One Certain Way, thank you.

Noah slumps further. At this point, the risk of falling out of his chair is high.]

...I guess not. I guess it makes sense, but... No offense, I feel like that's rich coming from one of the faculty members of this place. Hyde is Hyde, but there are others killing, aren't there? I doubt they're all killing in self-defense. Do you have these sorts of comforting conversations with everyone who walks through the door?
