The back of her head was kinda... smashed, and her arm was broken. She'd been dead for a few days before anyone found her; most of us think a fire in the library is connected. [pause] Well, "found." Somebody dropped her corpse right... Oh, um. It was in front of where you were, in the glass box. With a note that said "donation."

And people think Hiro did all that?

Kinda. Not alone, at least. [vague shrug] And maybe he didn't do anything at all! I just wish he'd just be... I know things are different here, but I'm not used to not being trusted. All I want to do is help. Help him, help everyone...

... When he saw that I had that, [gestures to the knife] he was just so... sad. I just keep thinking about it.

[ The mention of the knife makes her mouth twist in a frown, trying to imagine why Hiro would be sad about it— because it was hers? because she apparently existed in a suspended state in the auditorium all month and left for dead? They weren't... He wouldn't be sad... she thought so, anyways. ]

We can't... help everyone. Not individually— not with people butting heads with one another. But if we can fix the situation, nobody needs to die. I think we can do that, even if it's a struggle to trust and be trusted.

I agree, but... [cocks head to side] I am planning on helping everyone. Us, you guys-- if I can do something to help the people that did this to us, to find out what makes them do these things and stop them from wanting to do it again...

[because that's what heroes do. everyone that's in trouble deserves saving, no matter what they've done.]

[ She stares hard at Stephanie's hands like, what about you? are you a criminal, miss Meanswell? is that how you know?? ]

[ Now Nao is going to stare at everybody's hands that she meets and judge them by the presence of their fingernails, thanks. ]

Why...? What if you meet a monster who eats fingernails because that's their favorite food, or something? Are you going to help take people's fingernails to feed it so it doesn't eat the rest of them? Is that your compromise?

[ Sometimes a compromise isn't the best option... sometimes she feels very protective over her fingernails knowing there's somebody out there who wants them. ]

Why not? People don't need their fingernail clippings; most people just throw them away! [which is Dumb.] And maybe the monster just hasn't tried other, better foods yet. It might like cake!
