[Look. He's confident he can bullshit his way out of things, okay. He has no idea Maya contacted Shuichi about it.

So, having observed her behavior (though in a manner she wouldn't notice, hopefully), he finds his way 'coincidentally' to meet her outside of the counselor's office during that last half hour.]

[ There's little reason to hang out in the faculty side of the floor, but Moriarty is ???old??? so maybe he wanted to hang out with the adults after school, Maya doesn't care enough to say anything about it. What she does care about is people approaching her out of nowhere, smiling at her when most people have little to no reason to smile at her, even if it's in their nature to be polite or friendly. ]

I'm waiting for my brother.

[ The one who presumably murdered a man and has had daily counselling sessions all month. This is old news, although the glare in her eyes suggests she would rather them not talk about her brother. ]

[ Not smalltalk. People only approach her when they need something. ]
