Ah, well...
To be honest, I had ended up finding it on stage in the auditorium, like it was hidden away on purpose. So in a way, yes, but she didn't hand it off personally to me. I suppose she must have thought she didn't need it anymore?

[ With her hands, she means, holding one out towards him for the doll. ]
Though, it might be useful for you to keep after, even if it wasn't personally handed off to you. Think of it as a good luck charm, from a graduate.

[ He'll hand the doll off to the nurse easily, not feeling bothered by it at all. ]
I'll also keep your recommendation in mind; I believe in a place like this, having good luck charms can be useful.

[ She fiddles with the doll, carefully removing the stuffing from the shoulder where the doll is missing its arm and gathering it in her palm as she pushes against the doll's chest, guiding something through the fabric inside until it reaches the shoulder and a small dull gemstone slides out, like an unpolished quartz.
...
She replaces the stuffing before handing the doll back to him, placing the rock upon its chest before taking her hands back. ]
It no longer glows. She must have finally moved on. I'm glad...

For a moment he found himself a little taken aback, not expecting to hear something like this. But he recovered swiftly enough; there were stranger things in this place, after all. ]
...I assume you mean her spirit? Or...?

[ Sometimes your high school experience is so formative, that's what it feels like when you graduate. Anyways, the nurse seems to think of it as a good thing, seeing her students move on from the school. ]
Were you interested in a good luck charm of your own? The student who made her this may still be taking commissions, though I'm not sure.

Either way, he got up and did a bow. ]
I would be interested in a good luck charm of my own, so if you could please look into that for me I would be rather grateful for your assistance.
In addition, would you be able to tell me how is it spirits become bound to this school in the first place?

She gives him a little bit of a smile, like he has a particular way of phrasing things that makes it hard to keep up the metaphor, but oh well. Standing up too, she makes to walk him to the door. ]
Yogen is part of an escalator system, as you may recall. Students or their guardian apply, and they must pass the admission examination at the start of the elementary, middle, or high school level, whichever school they are to enroll in.
[ Just like any normal school, you're stuck here because you want to be. Or, because somebody else wanted you to be. ]

B-but...I don't...
I don't recall applying here, and I don't have a guardian. She had passed away quite awhile ago, and I've had to take care of myself for years.
[ ... ]
To be honest, Respectful Nurse, I'm...a little scared and unsure of myself in a place like this. Before I leave, is there something you can recommend to make it easier? Of course, I mean not to trouble you too much, and it is fine if that is not possible.

[ as if time is short when you're so young, when a year feels like a lifetime. Especially in high school.
Her gaze softens, though, when he asks. ]
The best thing I can suggest is to make friends and confide in them. Even though everybody comes from different backgrounds, you're all students of this school. You aren't alone as you might think.
[ friends can be hard, though, so in terms of other options-- ]
I think our school's counselor is a good person to talk to. He's rather busy, but I can always put in a word for any students who wish to see him on short notice- he'll find it hard to refuse me~ ...Other than that, my office is always open to you, whether you need somewhere quiet to be, or simply a hot cup of tea.
no subject
He didn't know much about the counselor personally, however her offer was something he decided he would pick up on at some point. Not now, not this week, or the following. But when he had more of an idea of how he'll navigate at least part of the discussion.
That being said... ]
Alright. Thank you so much for your time. I believe I will come by when I feel I need to, and hope it will not trouble you any when I do, as you have been rather kind.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day well.
[ And with that, once she opened the door, he will leave quietly. ]
