( the fumble is pretty cute actually, and amami laughs along for what it's worth — far from offended. for a minute or so even as he meets akira's eyes into the explanation, amami's smile is still frozen in place, kinda looking like he might be okay with this info. maybe he already knew and was just testing akki. except, he didn't, and he wasn't, and he'll glance off to the side after the moment passes, humming thoughtfully. )

Hm. So that's how it is...

( he looks like he's weighing his thoughts. why won't anyone ever just say when they're talking about people dying... )

Seems like there's a lot of unwritten rules in this place, huh. ( big sigh, looking back to akki. ) I don't suppose they're practical exams?

( school activity terms ain't looked the same since the stuco election, not gonna lie. )

[ It's a huge weight off his shoulders that Amami doesn't look angry, but to have a conversation like this with a smile on his face... Yeah, Akki knows the sort. ]

It depends on the year, for the most part... how the classes in general are doing, I mean. If students are doing well, sitting exams is all there is to it. If too many are struggling, the teachers may hold a practicum instead. And like I said... I think we're doing okay.

[ You want practical exams? Sabotage your entire grade level and then we'll talk. ]

If that's what you meant by us having a good class then I guess I should be grateful, but I feel kinda like I'm getting by on your hard work now.

( he leans back and that thoughtful expression shifts back to something more casual again. )

Welp, that decides it. Looks like I'll have to start coming to class more often in that case.

It's not like my grades are the best... [ Glasses and attendance do not make a person smart. ]

What do you do when you're not in class?

( sure they do. counting on you, akki. )

Oh, plenty, but none of it's all that interesting. You know, just transfer student stuff.

( #littletransferstudentthingz... which is his way of explaining that it's "things that will make you look at me like i'm insane" without actually setting off the look. or, well, that's what he's going for. )

[ "just transfer student stuff" earns him that look like he's insane, because the transfer students aren't very subtle

You know what? It's okay! I don't need to know.

[ He doesn't want to get involved. ]

Ah — c'mon, it's not that bad.

( jeez! akki acts like they're Like This on purpose or something, he can't not defend himself here. )

We're doing our best in our own way too, y'know. It's not like we're getting a lot of help.

( saying "friends" might be getting ahead of himself, but... that's the direction he'd like to head. )

[ Has he? He kind of doubts it, because he's done nothing more than talk. ]

S-sure... [ He does one of those nervous tight lipped smiles before dropping his gaze. looks back up ]

I can't skip class with you, though. The pop quizzes will end me, otherwise.

( yeah, this one'll take a bit more work, huh. that's fine though — amami's willing to put in the effort. )

I don't mind, since it looks like I've got a bit to catch up on too. ( unfortunately!!! )

Lunches or after class, just let me know when you're free. I feel bad if I'm interrupting.

( glancing to wherever akki's game has disappeared to. )

[ glances down at his game console, paused and resting on his lap ]

You don't have to worry about interrupting... I'm not doing anything important.

[ a game is something he can pause and start whenever he wants, with no time restriction— if he's willing to stay up late for it, and he often is. ]

I'm usually free during lunch, and after school... If I'm not here, or in 3-A, I've probably already gone home.
