( she almost forgets about akki's betrayal. ALMOST, but unfortunately for him, not completely —

so here she is, as classes slowly come to an end. it's like, five minutes to the bell, and she unceremoniously SLAMS the classroom door open, barging in and pointing straight at akki. if rokkun is there, she ignores him completely, and instead drags her thumb across her neck in a slitting motion.

you're DEAD, KIDDO!!!!!

not really, she just wants to scare him, but anyway — )

[ He's been back at school for one week and it's already terrible. He absolutely jumps in his seat when the door slams open, all eyes on Rika but her eyes are on him and oh no

WHY DO THIS 5 MINUTES FROM THE BELL knowing he has to sit here five whole minutes before he's allowed to get up and ask her why ...or flee through the other door, depending on if she leaves or stands there making death threats at him. ]

[contrarily]

( that is EXACTLY WHY!! she'd do it at the start of the class, but she doesn't want to wait outside forever, so... listen...

and she does wait outside, slinking back and patiently standing there until the bell rings. the moment she sees him go through this door................. is the moment she jumps on him like a feral animal, arms wrapping around his shoulders and laughter resonating through the halls. )

Akki!!!

[ He gives a shout of surprise, 1000% expecting a knife to be plunged into his throat but instead it's weight on his shoulders and his knees buckling because this wasn't anything he was prepared for. ]

-—Kawai-san?!

Pffhaha — ! Did I scare ya?! Were you scared?!

( listen... she might be less than five feet, so not a lot to fear normally, but akki's an easy target...

and she wouldn't stab him, wtf? unless he tried to stab her first, then maybe — )

[ LISTEN when five minutes ago you're fearing for your life, you have to steel yourself for things like this ]

[ Yes he was. But he's not going to admit it. ]

...You surprised me. I thought you were mad at me.

You totally were, don't lie!!

( NOW she's gonna get mad?

well, not really. she puffs her cheeks out, but otherwise just hangs on him like a koala, humming thoughtfully. )

Well, I was kinda mad. But then I got over it, 'coz you were on break and not here for me to attack you immediately, and now it's like, it's been more than a month, y'know, kinda weird to get upset over it so late —

I, uh...

[ Oh, so she was mad, even if it's over a month ago and she's no longer, it's still enough to make the guilt settle in the pit of his stomach. Maybe he's lucky he didn't have a reason to stay back during break; she definitely would have shanked him if she didn't have the time to cool down. ]

Sorry for making you mad. [ gotta assuage his own guilt a little, here, maybe push aside the part of him that wants to ask what he did wrong, because he doesn't want to hear and also doesn't want to upset her all over again. ]

It really has been more than a month, huh...? It doesn't feel any different being back, though.

... it's fine, so don't make that face! I got over it! But next time you send Kiki after me, I'm gonna be mad for real, 'kay?!

( she huffs, reaching up to poke his cheek. akira didn't do much, just asked about the glasses, but... he's scary? he looks like he's gonna punch her anytime? and also he's rude??????

all of that aside, though, she's not surprised akki told him everything... intimidating ass... )

Mmmhm. ~ Time flies! What'd you do on break? Did you miss me?!

[ Akki shrinks back a little at the cheek poke, not entire sure what to make ot it. He's... not entirely sure who Kiki is, either, but he nods because it isn't the first time somebody's gotten mad at him for something he didn't do, and at least he can't do what he didn't do again. ]

I... [ there's really only one correct answer here regardless of the truth ] Yes.

I didn't do much over break, though. I finished two games, and went to the movies on half-off Tuesdays... How was your break?

anyway, she knows he's lying. that was a rhetorical question. she'll ignore it, though, because he's at least had enough mind to play along. )

Ahh, I wanna see a movie!!! ( she groans, loud and pained, slumping onto him. ) ... not that great. Almost burned to death. Got in a fight with a ghost. You know, the usual. What movies did you see?! Were they super romantic?!

[ Stop, stop. He moves so he's properly standing in front of Rika, looking her up and down. ]

What happened? Are you okay?!

[contrarily]

( she blinks, a little surprised. )

Huh? What do you care? ( he didn't even MISS HER!!! ) I'm fine though, obviously. Nothing can get ME!

You almost got burned to death??

[ Ohhhhhhh my god, nobody in this school knows empathy ]

Why is that the usual? It shouldn't be.

( she stares at him for a moment, unconvinced. empathy... in this place???? )

Why not? You know shit gets wild in here.

Anyway, I dunno what happened, or why. Just... I was thinking I probably... don't have a lot of time left! So don't shorten it by sending scary guys after me!!

[ His expression crumbles at "I probably don't have a lot of time left" Rika is dying, and the guilt of being so difficult around her plunges deep. ]

What do you mean you don't have a lot of time...? Are you sick? I didn't think...

( yeah, sure, she's dying — or whatever gets her the sympathy and attention she needs to keep on living.

in a way, it's true. she WILL die if she doesn't get it? )

[ A part of him wants to ask what's wrong but he can't, because it'd be rude. Asking her how much time she has left is also rude, but more than that, he's scared to learn the answer. Yet another part of him didn't want any of this knowledge at all, but that's something he can't take back either. ]

I feel bad. I... wasn't always the nicest to you. Everything's so tough on you already, I can't even imagine... you didn't need me to be like that.

( should she feel bad for lying? absolutely. does she? no. )

Pfft, it's fine! I don't want special treatment just because I might be gone anyday and you'll never see me again!! ( ... ) Besides, Akki can't be mean. He's not capable of it!

[ "you'll never see me again" nooooo don't say that. Wishing Rika would leave him alone doesn't mean he wanted her gone forever, like... dead dead. ]

...That's not true. I've done plenty of mean things. There's a lot I regret doing.
