( when someone finds out he's not staying on rest like he should be, he'll probably get scolded like he's not an adult man. but here he is, hobbling his way tiredly to the library- to where he remembers seeing haruka last. slumping in a chair, he takes a deep breath, before looking around. )

... Haruka? Are you still here?

[ There is, perhaps expectedly, no answer. No floating books, no slamming doors, nothing to suggest ghost activity. Sidney sits there in the chair for a solid minute, when he feels the thumb of his existing hand feel cold and slightly numb.

Little ghost fingers tugging at his fingernail... ]

( oh- hello, sudden chill. still, he manages a small smile, turning towards his hand. )

If that's you, I'm afraid I need that still. Clamor will kill me if I come back injured more. ( he'll cry and lecture him more like, but still. ) ... Should have brought a notebook-

( don't mind him, he's gonna get back up, make his way to the librarian's desk and steal some paper and a pen before hobbling on back. maybe it'll work. )

( if not... he has other plans he can use this for. )

[ ): only Clamor feeds her fingernails

But she doesn't want to make Clamor into a murderer, so the cold draws back from Sidney's hand and it feels like a cool breeze against his back while he hobbles to the desk and back, like a little ghost girl had followed him instead of staying put.

The pen does lift from his hand this time, though, and just sort of hovers there at little ghost girl height with zero attempt to write anything. ]

( sometimes you lose an entire arm and your boyfriends are very upset with you if you sit up too fast... someday he may give her one, but not this time.

still, sidney watches the pen float.

it's really her. sidney smiles sadly, and wishes for a moment he could ruffle her hair or something similar... maybe next time, he'll bring clamor with him. it'd probably make things easier for them both. )

... I'm sorry. That I couldn't save you. But if you bring me a book, I can read it to you. And I can bring you snacks, if you want.

( his voice is quiet and gentle, but wavers slightly at the apology- he really did have a soft spot for children. )

[ The pen moves a little, clutched in both hands, but isn't a yes or a no. The ghost doesn't give one; instead, he feels that chill on the back of his hand again, that disappears and then gets cold again and repeats. Like his hand is being patted, because he looks and sounds sad, and that concerns her more than getting to read with somebody, or getting to eat Sidney's fingernails. ]

( oh no, cute-- sidney actually chuckles a bit. )

Sorry. I didn't mean to get all sad on you. But the offers still stand, promise.

( which sounds more feasible than saving a life that was already lost, really. after a moment, he gestures to the table with his head. )

Can I borrow the pen for a little bit? You can have it back in a few moments... I also need help keeping the paper still. Okay? Tap twice for yes, once for no.

[ This is a ghost girl who is bad at following directions, because while she does place the pen on Sidney's lap, she then takes the paper and floats it over to the table and spreads it flat, holding onto the edges.

She's helping, and is very proud of herself for being able to do so. ]

( jokes on my forgetting to narrate things out and also bad directions, this is exactly what he wanted! after a quiet moment of pen to paper, he leans back and holds the pen back out for haruka, leaving behind... a cute doodle of a flower! just for her. considering his... everything, it's decent! )

[ Ohh, cute... The pen gets lifted out of his hand and touches back down on the paper to trace out a little oval above the flower and then a stripe through the middle is shaded in.

It's a bee! ]

( aww, that gets a bit of a dadly chuckle. )

Very cute.

( haruka gets to keep the pen, it's hers now. he hopes to see more doodles appear. sidney doesn't consider himself much of an artist though, but if he's pushed into it, he'll draw more for her. )

... If you can leave the library, on the third floor there's flowers growing in one of the classrooms. If you ever want to see them. Miss Yashiro tends to them with her club.

[ She's not a great artist, so after a moment's consideration, she draws more bees. When you see one bee, there's always a hundred more somewhere. The little circles appear a little slower at the mention of the flowers, though, like she's still unsure. Leaving is something she can do with no problem, but it doesn't feel polite to go see if nobody else is there, when she's most awake at night.

...Abandoning the bees for now, she starts scribbling on the top of the paper in long back and forth strokes, making the scene nighttime. ]

( look, as far as sidney's concerned, she's the best artist in the school right now, and he's very fond of those bees. still, it's hard to carry a conversation with someone you can't hear or see... and he's admittedly getting tired. but he doesn't want to leave her behind again. all he can do is... guess. )

Clamor or I can take you, if you want. I'll talk to him about it. ... He's incredibly fond of you.

[ She's not entirely sure her intention came through, but the mention of Clamor's name makes the pen drop and clatter on the table. Ohhhhhh he's fond of her... Oh that makes her happy, seeing as she likes him a lot AND he can see and hear her.

There's a little tug on Sidney's right sleeve [ how i had to pause and remember which one has an arm, the arm sleeve ] and at the same time the paper shifts. Clamor time. We can show him the drawing, too. ]

( listen its okay i keep forgetting too-- sidney actually laughs when the tugging starts, and though he's slow to stand- is he getting old or is he supposed to be resting right now? he's supposed to be resting. put him back in bed, someone- he lets haruka tug, tug, tug along. )

Alright, alright. I think... he's in our homeroom.

( and if not there, the roof. but oof, he hopes not? he's tired. )

[ Maybe if she pushes Sidney too hard and he dies he can become a ghost and they'd be able to talk for real, she neither thinks nor says but what if

The enthusiasm she has tapers a bit once they're actually out of the library, though, and while he can feel that pull on his sleeve, he's not being pulled any one direction.

Maybe he can sense eyes on him, ones that are asking which one's their homeroom. ]

( admittedly, sidney pauses himself... ... does he want to take the elevator again? he- after that first time, he's always hated it. but he really shouldn't be pushing himself.

... s i g h.

sidney approaches the elevator, keeping a slower pace both for his health, and so haruka can trail after. he doesn't know how fast ghosts like to move, after all. )

The buttons can be finicky, so don't touch, alright?

( and if anyone sees a grown man walking around with a floating piece of paper behind him, dwbi. )

[ npc students are very good at pretending not to see things, and that's what they're going to do here.

There's at least the paper that lets him know where she is, a little hesitation before stepping into the elevator because what it if starts and it passes through her? She's not a floaty ghost, so it should be fine... The paper lowers a couple of inches above the ground in one of the back corners, Haruka making herself small so there's no chance of her bumping into buttons and Sidney won't bump into her if the elevator shakes. ]

( npc students no the school is ours for the summer classes ain't back yet this is time travel??

anyways, the elevator ride is simple and not a trip to hell which is great, so they can go find clamor! when sidney exits, he keeps his arm between the doors until he knows haruka's out so they don't close on her, and then leads the way to 1-C... is clamor there... lets ask lavvy. )

[Clamor is doing his summer homework like a good student, so yeah he's just chillin' in 1-C today with about three open textbooks and a coffee. He turns in his seat when he hears the door open, though.]

Oh, Sidney... I see you've brought a friend!

[ghost daughter........]

[ Ghost daughter brightens up immediately when she sees Clamor, and Sidney can see the paper move faster than it had ever before, tap tap tap over to Clamor's desk and the paper gets held up to his face.

It's a drawing of a flower! Surrounded by... imagine half a dozen Theta symbols that are supposed to be bees. ]

( sidney chuckles, watching the paper just float... )

There's sound in the library now. I decided that since I'd at least have some way of talking with her, I may as well, right? And then she wanted to show you the drawing.

( he's going to carefully take a seat though. )

And I'm happy to report, I've been good. No stairs or straining or anything.
