08/26 | Roughly around early afternoon | We goin Cat Hunting™

[A certain someone is starting things off with some bad decisions, and by that I mean he is meandering through the halls in search of the black cat. He has a little tupperware container of raw fish that he prepared shortly beforehand in the home economics room so that it would still be fresh upon finding his intended recipient. Other than that he is literally just... Roaming. Trying to be stealthy in ways that Rin is absolutely not stealthy so that he doesn't get caught and socialized with.

He's mostly sticking near places he can easily duck into to hide should someone actually approach, juuuust in case. Bathrooms, supply closets, etc, with the occasional daring journey from floor to floor. He is Determined and he is on a Mission.]

[ The black cat proves difficult to find, especially when Rin sooner runs into the white one that starts purring when she smells the fish and sticks to Rin's feet, meowing all the while and giving the other cat plenty of prior warning of their approach.

Food food food food food ]

[This was not the intended result, but he's also not going to deny her access to food like an asshole or something. The good news is that he brought a lot of fish.

He squats down, holding his hand out to let her sniff it for a moment before reaching into the container to grab a piece and set it down in front of her. On top of the lid. Because who knows how dirty the floors are.]

Can you help me find your friend? I want to make sure they're eating too, and I'll give you half of this as payment.

[adsum]

[ The floors are probably all sticky with blood bc the janitor isn't here during break to mop up after people.

The white cat bypasses sniffing altogether and goes right into rubbing her cheek against Rin's outstretched hand, tail aloft while he chooses a piece of fish to set down on the lid. It's gone in seconds.

Pleased, it looks back up at Rin hopefully. If he doesn't cave and give her another piece, she'll start pattering down the hall— but occasionally stopping and looking back at him as if she understands what he's saying. ]

[All the better reason to make sure the food doesn't get tainted

He almost does cave at the Big Eyes, though he instead tries to placate her with a little scritch under the chin before straightening up to stand once more. His own tail is giving a few excited wiggles where it has been contained beneath his clothes to avoid questions, and after a moment of watching her trot off he realizes she's waiting for him and starts after her.]

Thanks. You'll get more soon, I promise.

[ Scritches aren't as yummy as food but she takes what attention she's offered, holding Rin to his promise as she trots off again, scratching at the door to the stairwell until Rin opens it and then she heads down the stairs, stopping to scratch again at the door to the ground floor.

It's the locker area that she leads him to, where the black cat can be found laying on its side on top of one of the lockers: high up and out of reach, with a good vantage point to see the entire locker area, and plenty of ways to run away if need be. Its golden eyes are already open, watching Rin and the white cat turn the corner from the stairs to the lockers, but it won't move until Rin is within ten feet of where it lies. ]

[She earns more of them once they've reached their destination as he leans down to pet her between the ears. From there he sets the lid back down on the ground, scooping out exactly half of the fish from the container for her to enjoy at her discretion. Five big chunks of rather generously cut tuna, although it probably won't last very long.

He then slowly starts down the hall towards the black one, keeping his distance for the most part and just kind of shaking the container to see if it will come over on its own terms]

Hey buddy. Brought you some lunch if you're hungry! I won't touch you or anything if you don't want me to, so just sorta growl or hiss at me if I do anything you don't like, okay?

[adsum]

[ The white cat devours the tuna as if she hasn't eaten in days, while the black cat continues to stare at Rin, starting to hiss when he gets too close to its 10-foot bubble of personal space, but stopping when he backs off and stands still. Its eyes are trained on Rin at all times, never once paying the fish any mind.

Meanwhile, having finished her meal, the white cat flops over on her side at Rin's feet, meowing up at the black cat as if vouching for Rin, but the other cat still does not move. ]

[After a bit of testing of the boundaries, Rin just gives a small nod to himself, leaning down to place the container onto the ground and scoot it over towards the lockers with his foot. He's not going to push his luck, especially considering he knows how much damage cats can do when they're real mad at you]

Alright dude, we'll just stay over here, okay? If you wanna hop down and eat, I won't move until you're back up there. [He then proceeds to flop himself down onto the ground beside the white cat, crossing his legs to sit comfortably and reaching over to give her lots of pets]

Trust me though, I get it. I used to be like you too, back when I was on my own all the time. People can be shitty and terrible, but if you hurt them they'll leave you alone, right? [He's going to try and boop the beans on the white kitty as he talks.] Only problem with that is, being alone can get really lonely.

[ There's a little bristle when Rin sits down, as evidently the black cat's preference is for Rin to be out of sight rather than stay here and chat, but it seems to begrudgingly accept his presence. It still doesn't come down, though it will once there's nobody around, but for the time being it just sits up and watches Rin boop the white cat's beans. She even tolerates her paws being held for all of two and a half seconds before they're withdrawn and tucked under herself.

The white cat does meow, though, when Rin mentions being alone. The white cat and the black cat and ??friends?? maybe ]

[He moves his attention away from her paws once they are withdrawn, a fond smile on his face as he goes back to doling out more under-the-chin rubs. She's really sweet and affectionate in a way that makes him miss Kuro, a dull sad ache somewhere in his chest that throbs just enough to be felt. He hopes the Cat Sídhe is okay wherever he is, as Rin was sure that the last time he'd seen Kuro was well before his Mephisto Brand Reality Check Field Trip.]

I'm a lot better now, don't worry! [He replies to her mew as if they are holding a full on conversation, and he's sure after a moment's thought that Yukio would probably think he was insane if any of this was stumbled upon] I found a family of my own, so I got lucky. Pretty much all I'm trying to say is I'm here for both of you and all, okay? We can just sort of hang out like this whenever, and if you're ever hungry and can't find food anywhere else, just come and get me and I'll make you as much as you can stomach!

[adsum]

[ The purring starts up again in response to Rin's words. The white cat is going to follow him around everywhere now even if she's not hungry, even if she just ate, just so she can beg Rin for food. Maybe after she's too stuffed to move and is napping off a food coma, the black cat will come finish up whatever leftovers there is. ]
