pspsps cat hunt | 04/uhhh let's make this like 09 i guess that seems reasonable

Izumi and Natsume are going after the black cat first :') They have brought offerings of... some homemade cat food they made after school in the HomeEc Room. Pspspsps. They'll probably put it down on the floor on a plate once they spot little kuroneko-san and wait to see if it'll come closer...

...Izumi has his little horse toy on him though. Food vs horse who will win.

They find the black cat in the locker area walking down one of the rows of lockers before it spots the two of them and freezes in place. As long as they don't make any sudden movements or reaches for it, it doesn't run— but the way it's tensed suggests that it will at any given moment. Rather than peering down at the food on the floor, the cat stares at Izumi. Horse hate is winning out... Compared to the white cat, this one doesn't seem as motivated by food.

hey, izumi is not being sus...... is he? he does a little staredown at the cat for a hot second before he starts checking himself over, and pulls out the cute little horse toy from his person. is this what it wants? what if izumi puts it down on the ground like a peace offering of sorts, like so?

He is being sus The cat does decently at the staring contest, but puffs up like this and hisses when it sees the toy and hops down the back side of the locker. Unlike the white cat that goes thump when it lands on the ground, the little black cat barely makes a sound.

The toy horse rocks slowly on the ground.

Izumi's killing the vibe here... Natsume looks at the toy horse, wondering what this cat has against it. Why --

but then he's going to try and squeeze to see down the back side of the locker please come back kitty he'll kick the horse away for you if that helps....... He'll smash it...

If he can't find the cat or anything of note behind the locker though they can go hunt for the white cat instead and Izumi can get treated to dirty looks the whole way up :/ they have food for Shironeko too don't worry.

With that sort of reaction, the cat's obviously seen the thing before and associates it with something bad— either the toy itself, or whoever brought it to it. The cat stares at Natsume from the back side of the locker, but doesn't move.

Is he going to smash the horse? Please tell me how much damage he does to the horse.

literally what is their beef with the horse.... izumi's pretty sure cats normally wouldnt mind toys like that?? so izumi's like "fine, if you don't want it, then--"

and proceeds to pick up the toy and YEETS it to the far side of the hall. there, trouble averted. he doesn't have a lingering attachment to the toy anyway, apart from being reminded of his horse-loving kouhai back home.

GOODBYE HORSE
The cat startles at the sudden movement and darts away towards the far side of the locker out of sight, and the toy cracks upon hitting the ground, the horse snapping apart from its base. The base continues to rock where it's landed on the ground, and if Izumi or Natsume or anybody else decides to pick the toy back up and look at the underside of the horse, they will see the letters "NS" -—or maybe it's "SN" it's hard to tell which side is up—- crudely carved into the wood on its belly.

Izumi still gets a dirty look - stop spooking the cat!!!! - and Natsume... goes to pick up the toy. SN? NS? fun cool those are His initials.

Anyway,

He's going to consider the black cat a lost cause for now :'| Upstairs to look for the white kitty instead... They'll bring the food they made since little black kitty didn't eat any...

should say he's given Izumi back his stupid broken toy that makes cats hate him, Natsume does Not want kitty cats to avoid him. Sena-senpai can suck it

The moment they start pspspspsing, the white cat appears and trots up to them and gives Sena a wide berth like he has the plague to meow sweetly but insistently at Natsume's feet. Meow meow food please meow.

UGHHHHHHHHH let him pet the cat too he hasnt seen little john for so long ;_____;

he doesnt want to destroy the horse toy tho, since it might be a clue to something..... hold on, give him a moment to run to his own locker and put it away in there and then come back. ugh, so much work just for the cats alone, so annoying!!!

While Izumi's crying over cats hating his horse him, Natsume will be feeding the little meowing kitty c: we will not let this thing starve just because Izumi wants to run around school no we will not...!!

Izumi returns to see Natsume feeding the cat, back arched and tail aloft, purring its little head off as it very obviously enjoys its food. This one's not a feral little thing, and is clearly used to having people around since it lets Natsume and Izumi pet its soft thick fur— whoever tries petting it first, though, receives a tiny static shock that startles the cat too, though not enough to deter it from eating or purring. Both would find a very thin layer of dust on the cat's fur, not enough to turn its fur noticeably grey, but enough to be felt on the fingers.

What an excellent specimen. Natsume's the one who gets to pet it first, and he jerks slightly - but seeing as it's not going anywhere after, he'll keep petting the kitty and just ask where it's been to get so dusty - the crawlspaces?

For Natsume's dignity I'm not going to write out his exact phrasing because he may be slightly babytalking a cat and he doesn't deserve to be shamed right now.

The cat is chatty and goes mrr at his question in between bites of cat food, all without lifting its head out of the plate. I hope this is right after school so there are npcs around to go aww at this interaction.

Stop Natsume has a reputation to keep............. They'll let the kitty eat and if it has no secrets for them they'll give it more pets and let it be.

His reputation is currently that he likes cats and is cute with them. The cat has no other secrets as of right now, other than being an uncharacteristically dusty kitty despite not being able to go outside.
