[ First of all, they are neither friends nor classmates, so he should have no reason to. That, and he knows she prefers something more concrete than "I want to talk about whatever until whenever" and a full hour's lunch break is way too long a time. ]

I've met some difficult-to-get-along-with boys beFORE, but it's rare that a girl won't fall for my charms in some WAY.

It's a long stoRY, but one of our members decided to try and feed its CUB... Naturally, the mother bear didn't like THAT. Afterwards, we found a cliff and I was shoved off of it by Komaeda-san, and I almost drowned in the river beLOW.

But in brighter NEWS, I've been learning from my master how to cast maGIC... Would you like to SEE?

[ It just so happens that Hikaru is in the camp of "if somebody cooked for me then it will be delicious" but it's also from Lucifer-senpai so they will cherish every bite. The bento is set on the center of the desk between them, and if there are two pairs of chopsticks then they'll take one and expect Lucifer to take the other; if there is only one pair, then they'll eat while Lucifer is talking and then pass the chopsticks over to him so he can eat too while they talk. ]

Yeah, it was fun! Our camp didn't get ransacked, don't worry! There's no way to be bad at camping, I don't think, but it's always best to go with somebody who's done it before. Next time, you should come with us!

[ There's a little raise of the eyebrows at the request to put in a good word for him, and she would have done it if he didn't take it back. She's not sure it would have helped, anyways; coming from Nao out of the blue, it will be obvious who prompted her to say it, and she knows Maya prefers to form her own opinions on people anyways. ]

To be honest, it might be that "charm" [ she does the air quotes ] that puts her off. Somebody acting like that has got to be an act, and she appreciates sincerity.

[ The people she gets along with— Hiro, Nao, Shuichi— are that sort of people. Shuichi's a liar but at least not to her face. ]

[ Hiro's brows furrow the more Natsume talks because what the fuck, how can anybody experience attempted murder and talk so casually about it. That sounds like a horrible break, and he looks sympathetic

but not enough that he doesn't look up with interest at being able to see more magic. Candy appearing out of thin air, please... ]

[ Well that makes her look closely at him, squinting past his bangs at the eye hidden underneath, and then gets mad at herself for caring when he was just exaggerating. Even if what he's exaggerating is questionable in its own right. ]

And what good reason is there to do that to yourself?

...It isn't completely an ACT, but it isn't like it's something I can turn off eiTHER. ( He's already reduced his flirting with her because he's aware she's not a fan of it, but. He can't turn off his charisma modifier, send help. ) I'm an idol and a fortuneteller—it's just in my nature at this point to talk to people like THIS.

( And doing anything else is kind of embarrassing, frankly. He'd rather die than be emotionally unguarded. )

She'd find it suspicious if I started acting differently now anyWAYS, wouldn't SHE? Like I'm up to something more than just "wanting to be cloSER".

He looks up when Natsume apologizes, and shakes his head a little. Reaching forward, he cups his hands under Natsume's and lifts them half a centimeter before pulling away and doing a little fistpump by his side.

( no, he's still sorry! which komaeda won't let him go, he'll reach out to grab the hem of akira's shirt. )

[ Like a little kid squashing ants under their thumb on the pavement, is what comes to mind when Komaeda says he enjoyed extinguishing the lights. ...He's not sure what to think when he's compared to a light himself, one that stood out and was noticed.

The wristband lifts just enough for Komaeda to catch a glimpse of the inner wrist— still covered with innumerable cuts both deep and shallow, old and new, but none so new that they're actively bleeding like they were last time. That's as much as he gets before Rokkun both pulls his left arm back, and grips Komaeda's wrist with his right, not needing to see to know where his hand is. ]

Stop. [ ... Slowly, he lets go of Komaeda's wrist. ] We can watch the stars from the roof. But that's as close as you and I will be able to see that together.
