[ A practiced cat stalker... Which is just as well, because cats are very good at being very fast for short distances, but they are no marathon runners and even at the steady pace this cat has been going, it's noticeably slower by the time it reaches the ground floor.

Still, it does take the time and energy to jump on top of the lockers in passing, to walk along the length of one row and look around— for anybody hidden between the rows, anybody approaching from the ahead, or stalking from behind— before jumping off and continuing its trek down the hall.

It's the counselor's office door the cat stops at, scritch scratching lightly at the door as it appears to be unable to slip underneath. There's a moment's pause. Two. Five long seconds before the door opens and the counselor opens the door. He manages to get out no more than a "Hey, welc—" before the cat trots inside, paying him no heed.
