Yup! And lunch is just leftovers of what we made in class this morning.

[because ive decided at least twice a week subaru has home ec cooking before lunch so he can eat what they sometimes make. today is some pork cutlets and rice, with a cucumber salad side. one of these things is not what they made in class.

[ She schools her expression as best she can, but she still breathes out when Natsume admits to murdering— and four students, at that— gaze lingering on his wrist for a moment longer before looking back up to meet his eyes. ]

[ Then, because he thinks she has answers? Maybe. But she's of the opinion it won't do him any good unless he comes to the conclusion himself. ]

[ npc-kun stands a little taller as if it were their own work that Subaru is praising, but they scouted this talent so they're allowed to be proud in everybody's stead. ]

Tarou-nii did a bunch of them! And Sara did the alligators—- and Akira drew one for me too!

[ Encouraging words aside, they locked in on the crappiest artists they could find rather than asking somebody in the art club, but everybody's happy in the end, so all's well that ends well.

Of course I am! I'm a proud pet owner, so I can draw my dog like no one's business! And other animals too, but Daikichi the best~. Wanna see?

[ Okay... With confidence like that, he can either be very very good or very very bad and npc-kun will withhold judgement until they see. ]

[ Pen, pen... It's a pencil they have closest on hand, and the handful of papers on the counter that they take one of and flip to the other side so Subaru can use the blank backside as his canvas. ]

[thankfully it's the "very very good" end of things. while i, his player, cannot draw, it's stated he draws the most adorable shiba inu, which he will do now. tongue out and everything, paw up, he is a Good Pupper ready to be loved]

I like drawing him on the margins of my books and stuff during class~. That stuff's super boring, so I've gotta do something to stay awake. One of my friends tried drawing him once and it looked like a croquette~.

( yeah, he forced komaeda's hand into this position, and he can't even turn back with the words falling off the tip of his tongue. it's not very him, he's not direct, and yet here he is saying this to rokkun that puts a spotlight on him, some sort of honesty he doesn't want to be vocal about.

it frightens him, actually, what's this supposed to be... good luck? bad luck? it'll swing an opposing end, fierce, and out of his control he thinks. he's waiting for it, not even willing to look rokkun properly in the face — his face angled towards the ground.

it's when he speaks that komaeda's eyes swiftly glance in his direction, and they widen for a moment surprised, and then they grow sharp again, that normal, empty look behind them. )

( he's expectant, waiting for him to answer. )

[ But it's said with less enthusiasm as they had regarded the indiscernible scribbles from the other artists. Good drawings are good, but they can't use this to advertise the shop; everybody would be more focused at how cute this dog is to notice the words above. ]

Like a croquette? [ They laugh a little, hands pressed on the counter before the paper. ] I want to see! Show me!

He shakes his head now, like he's testing it out. ]

[ He does always come back, eventually, somehow, but he thinks of graduation and what he must do to get there and the smile becomes a little forlorn. Honestly, he always expected Komaeda to be the one to leave and not come back, but Komaeda's always the one who comes to him— for him— and it always makes him happy.

He's not too sure about everybody else, but ]

[ Sparing Komaeda for a moment, he glances out the window, at the presumably sunny sky outside, because it's a long loooooong time before the stars will be out.

( yeah, sure, she's dying — or whatever gets her the sympathy and attention she needs to keep on living.

[huh..... so they'd prefer the worse drawings. subaru'll have to prove his boss wrong and figure out a good way to make daikichi marketable.

but okay!!!!! subaru makes a show of pushing up his sleeves and sticking out his tongue, drawing what his poor dear friend hokuto had done... it's very round. a lot of circles. very croquette-ish. recognizable as a dog if told it's a dog]

— There! Hokke~'s masterpiece! Whatcha think? Still too good for your liking?

[ Oh thank you.

He looks visibly relieved, but also somewhat apologetic, because Stephanie really wanted to show somebody this dead animal head. ]

[ A part of him wants to ask what's wrong but he can't, because it'd be rude. Asking her how much time she has left is also rude, but more than that, he's scared to learn the answer. Yet another part of him didn't want any of this knowledge at all, but that's something he can't take back either. ]

I feel bad. I... wasn't always the nicest to you. Everything's so tough on you already, I can't even imagine... you didn't need me to be like that.

It's fine! I'd never wanna make you do something you're not comfortable doing. [she says, like she doesn't accidentally do it all the time to everyone.] I'll find something much cooler to show you one of these days.

[ Much better than Subaru's very good drawing, because this is something people would stop and squint at. And since Subaru's a good artist to begin with, that means the original must be even more ...croquette ]

Makes me hungry... I want to eat croquettes. Freshly made, so that it's still crispy on the outside and piping hot inside!

[ He appreciates that, and thinks that it'd only be fair that he makes some effort in helping this out. What's something people think is cool, that wouldn't make him sick seeing?
