CHARACTER INFORMATION Name: Miyuki Shirogane Canon: Kaguya-sama: Love is War Canon point: Anime, Season 2 Episode 12 Age: 17 History:Right here!
Personality: From the outside, Miyuki is held with reverance amongst his classmates for his standing as the President of Shuchiin's Student Council as well as his consistent dominance atop the second years in exams. In terms of studying and hard work, Miyuki could certainly be described as unparallelled. During his second year, he has yet to fall from the top of the class and takes his studies seriously.
Most of that is due to the reason he's at Shuchiin: through a scholarship acquired due to his grades. He's seen as an 'impure' student, one who had transferred in as opposed to being at the school since Elementary. Thus he works hard at keeping himself afloat at school... and at home as well. The Shirogane family doesn't have much to their name, and Miyuki himself winds up working part time constantly in addition to his duties as a student, and as the StuCo President. In general, he's used to overworking himself and that only adds to his image; sleep-deprived and intense.
Of course, that's his image. Something that Miyuki strives to keep together.
The truth is that Miyuki's ego is fragile and he puts a lot of stock into what others think about him. If he shows any type of weakness or reveals that he's not good at something, he attempts to work extra hard to reverse it so his social standing isn't effected by it. This is seen with his many, many study sessions with Chika Fujiwara, where he reveals that he's absolutely god awful at coordinating in general; from volleyball to singing, to gutting a fish to rapping. He's always willing to put in the extra effort to get good at something, but the fact of the matter is that it always comes from needing to keep his image as pristine as possible. To him, looking stupid, or "cute" to Kaguya, may in fact actually cause him to have a mild breakdown.
This leads to him of course, overanalyzing quite a bit when it comes to his daily dealings with Kaguya. He's utterly convinced that he'll be trapped on occasion into confessing to her or coming across as cute, that he tries himself to be one step ahead to the point where he'd completely and utterly miss the point. It again, ties back into him wanting to keep his standing intact, but is something that slowly but surely, he does get himself out of. After all, he's very close to getting to the point where he'd be fine with confessing to her due to him running out of enough time to spend with her. There's less of a battle going on right now, than it is him making the best attempt to express himself.
Truth be told, Miyuki's got two sides to him. One comes through with said dealings with Kaguya. He can be very calculating and cold from time to time, volleying back any type of advance Kaguya may make back towards her. This is mostly seen when Kaguya attempts to trap him by acting nonplussed by a love letter, reflected once Kaguya answers that it'd be possible for her to cancel a date if a certain someon else were to ask her out as well. He's quick to dismiss her attempt at stating it was 'true love' with a smirk on his face. He can be a very, very shallow and petty person, eager to explode with joy once he's gotten ahead in some form or fashion, loudly celebrating for instance at besting Kaguya in the exams yet again. In a sense, he can be fairly self-serving when it comes to achieving goals related to his work.
On the other, Miyuki's always had a sense of kindness to him. He's always eager to help someone out, even if it's to his detriment. The strongest example would be during the Student Council Elections, where he helped his opponent open up after she came down with stage fright-- and then wound up enlisting her into the Student Council itself. Part of that image he strives so hard to maintain is him working to keep the school running, even at his own expense. In recent chapters, this is highlighted through him overworking to make sure the culture festival is a success, so that everyone else can have a good time. In essence, he's always doing his best to help out others, even if it comes at a price to himself.
Altogether, Miyuki's mostly obsessed with his own image, and even if he has his own phobias and flaws, he constantly attempts to hide them completely and attempts to continue giving off that aura of the hard working intelligent President, even if he can be quite dull when it comes to romance and is fairly inept at common things. It just won't stop him from giving his all. Powers/abilities: None.
Questions: ✽ What does your character consider to be their top three strengths?
If asked, Miyuki would think that his strengths are his intelligence, his hardworking nature, and his tenacity. They generally all come to a head with his academics, needing to be at the top to match up against Kaguya, as well as live up to his reputation as the student council president. He'd consider him working so hard and not giving up at any cost a plus, because it makes him look like with a little hard work, he can do anything.
✽ What do others consider to be your character's greatest weakness?
Something that the same may consider one of his best traits, his kindness. Shuchiin is a school for elites, and some of the students could be particularly cutthroat in how they and their family conduct business. On the other hand, someone may be in direct competition with Miyuki and he'd just barely come through because he decided to help someone else. It may in that case, be easy for someone to trick him or take advantage of him if he doesn't see through them.
✽ What are your character's three greatest fears?
Being unable to live up to his own expectations, instilled into him by assorted memories of his mother and through his desire to be someone who can stand on equal ground with Kaguya. It forces him to work harder and he hates the idea of being unable to live up to that. In the same way, he's afraid of being seen as someone who doesn't deserve to be where he is. He felt that pressure when he had first transferred into Shuchiin, as someone who had transferred in and hadn't been attending the academy since primary school. Lastly, at this point in time, he's terrified that Kaguya will see the worst side of him: poor, uncoordinated, and to himself, struggling to keep himself presentable.
✽ What would your character choose for a last meal?
Something simple, like a typical bento with sausages and miso soup.
✽ Has your character ever killed? If so, how did that affect them? If not, how would it affect them?
It would eat him up until the end of time. Regardless of the reason, he wouldn't be able to deal with being a murderer of any kind and would probably never get over it.
✽ If your character was given one selfish wish (eg. must be applied to themselves and not affect others), what would it be?
To be who he envisions himself as. Someone that can flawlessly measure up to Kaguya Shinomiya, who doesn't have to try so hard to be good at anything, and can easily juggle all of his responsibilities without fail.
