Ishimaru receives this old clock, which seems to run 6 minutes too slow even after he tries to correct the time. If he fiddles around with it in the middle of the night, he finds that if he tries to fix the clock to its correct time, in the hour that it takes for the clock hand to slow back down to its usual 6 minutes slow, Ishimaru is able to hear past midnight for that one hour, although sound is quiet and muffled. This will affect any person holding the clock, but only one person at a time.
