One day while he's in the library, a student council member will approach him to return two hope fragments to him. He will explain that both were found and returned to the student council, who in turn were able to identify them as belonging to him.

One of the hope fragments has a few small flecks of blood on it, though he way they're smeared suggests that someone had tried to wipe them off.
